Honestly, it’s probably bad for business. Dropping fast because most people just buy the games online, and high shrinkage rates because it’s small and easy to walk off with OR low shrinkage rates and you need a bunch of dedicated stuff like lockable cabinets and people around to unlock the cabinets (which probably results in lower sales overall)
maybe a compromise could be bulk orders behind the counter or individual mailings of physical media. I get that a lot of people just download and then have DLC updates
There’s still physical media on amazon, ironically.
