It trips me out when I’m browsing movies to watch, and I see actors that use to be considered like ‘it’ back in the day.

I don’t think young people even know who Deneese Richard’s is. Or, remember when Charlie Shean went fucking nuts with the whole ‘winning’ shit ?

Or, Hailey Joel Osman. Remember him? He was in A.I., The Sixth Sense, I mean fuck.

He was a super popular and REALLY GOOD child actor.

It seemed like all the really big directors like Spielberg used him for their films. Big block buster movies. I don’t think there is one shitty movie he was in. They were all big and with really famous actors.

There’s so many new actors and actresses now. Idk to me, they are not iconic at all and movies aren’t the same anymore either.

Just crazy how like they aren’t relevant anymore

It seems like there really aren’t superstars anymore. Women Aren’t allowed to be sexy and men aren’t allowed to be competent, and so there isn’t really anything that inspires people.

The closest thing we get is Hollywood dragging creepy old memories out of the closet to go “look! It’s the person you like! They’re back!” But then completely emasculating the men and masculinizing the women such that nobody cares if they’re back.

Maybe that is the case- they keep trying to present us with new people to take over, but they tend to not stick.

This may be, in part, because of the longevity of figures like Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, just holding on to those key roles in films forever. Same with WIll Smith - for crying out loud, that guy got his big break on some TV show 30 years ago.

They want to erase things that inspire us so we might forget that we can feel that way.

Let me tell you a story. Around 1916, in Halifax harbor, a munitions ship caught on fire. Everyone started to evacuate. The local telegraph operator began to evacuate, but turned back realizing that there were several trains on their way. He knew he was going to die. His last message was “Hold up the train. Ammunition ship afire in harbor making for Pier 6 and will explode. Guess this will be my last message. Good-bye boys.”

You know, that wasn’t a movie. That actually happened, and his sacrifice saved 300 innocent people on one of the overnight trains that was headed for Halifax. And maybe you’re different than me, but I find that story inspiring. No wonder they don’t bother telling us stories like that anymore.

Definitely. It’s almost time to reject mass media given that they refuse to produce anything of value. (Actually, most people already have. Many YouTubers are more famous than most movie stars)

Right? Isn’t that fucking wild?! They get paid millions for dumb shit while actors actually act

Just goes to show you how broken the entertainment industry is right now.

I don’t think it has to be either. Look at the Japanese entertainment industry, every season they’re coming out with dozens of new series that get people excited, but you can tell that they’re actually focused on creating stories and telling them.

In some ways morality is part of the problem.

They think it’s their moral duty to “use their platform” to make the world more like what they think is right no matter if we like it or not.
