A New Jersey woman said she won more than $2 million on an Atlantic City slot machine — but the casino isn’t coughing up the dough, leaving the septuagenarian “very anxious” about being unable to help her homeless son.

Roney Beal, 72, claims she hit it big on a Wheel of Fortune slot machine at Bally’s Casino in February, but when she went to collect her winnings, the casino claimed the jackpot was due to a technical glitch and therefore didn’t count, she told The Post Saturday.

“What’s the use in playing then?”

After losing $1,000 on various machines that day, Beal revisited the Wheel of Fortune slot machine.

When she gave it another six or seven spins, she said she hit the jackpot.

She said she eventually got the words “wild,” “wild x2” and spin on a diagonal on the slot area of the machine. This entitled her to a free spin on the Wheel of Fortune wheel on the top of the machine.

After spinning, the wheel ended up on the word “Jackpot” with a dollar sign — and she said she heard the words “You’ve won.”

Then, 3-D gold coins came out and a blue light went off, she said.

“And then the people behind me got up and they’re like, ‘oh my god, oh my god.’ This guy says, ‘lady you’re a millionaire. A millionaire,'” she said.

But when she used a call button to summon help, a tilt message popped up, indicating the machine was unplayable due to an error or malfunction.

A Bally’s employee told her she didn’t win before telling her to leave the casino.

I would argue that if it can happen that a glitch can make you win, a glitch can also make you lose. So, if I was that lady, I would take this to court and request a detailed list of all people that were refunded because they lost due to a glitch. Oh, you didn’t reimburse the ‘losers’? So give that lady her money and make sure your machines work next time. And I’d also request a detailed audit of the internal mechanism and code by an independent auditor.

I have to admit that I kinda hate that entire industry and would love to see them burn for their often shady practices.

huzzah there man, it’s a horrible ‘industry’ that preys on people’s inability to understand probability and is engineered to keep the addicted playing their last dimes.

That is a really bright idea about how to try to fight this.

I hope she follows your advice.

      Mystery solved.

Probably told some backroom staffer “If they ever hit for $50k plus on anything, RUN THE ERROR MESSAGE…!”

Machines probably have backdoors for this supplied by the companies who make them, I imagine, and the manufacturer will go to bat for the casinos that buy this shit.

“Of course it’s a completely fair machine… and, of course, occasionally random errors in the favor of the casino can happen like this…! These are complicated machines, not just some vidya game…!

        Doubtful that theres a conspiracy.

That being said, there should be a reasonable percentage like “you pay 25% of a glitch win” policy on casinos and the company that makes them so that they have a vested interest in making sure they never glitch.

I disagree - I think there are informal conspiracies like this all the time because it is so easy to discuss this frankly at dinner with the machine supplier. It is a downfall of the left that, after it has gained a foothold in the establishment, it acts as if the establishment and big business all act in good faith…

Nonetheless, I upvoted because the last clause that you have brought up is smart and I think it should exist.

you lost me there. he’s gone after big business in a bunch of ways that help the average american:

            • saving the economy,
            • forgiving school loans,
            • cutting insulin costs (THIS SAVED SO MANY LIVES IT’S BONKERS),
            • stood up for unions & labor (FIRST PRESIDENT TO EVER WALK A PICKET LINE),
            • increased overtime for millions,
            • ended federally subsidized discriminatory mortgage lending,
            • went after airlines, cable companies, phone companies, concert ticket sales and hotels for their fucking ridiculous hidden fees!,
            • brought back net neutrality,
            • he’s gonna try to tax billionaires!

please stop acting like everyone on the left is the same, I’m a bernie guy, but I respect biden’s accomplishments. any single one of these should get your respect, and the load together is pretty fucking impressive especially considering the obstruction on the right, and people on the ‘left’ like Manchin and Sinema.

The establishment is acting in bad faith alteady. The machines themselves are addictive money printers with billions of dollars put into making them as predatory as possible with rules that allow them to void wins that arent built into their margins.

1 whistleblower… just 1 with proof would destroy the entire slot machine industry. They wouldnt do it because it puts the golden goose at risk of having its head cut off.

So, every game on a slot machine is usually logged, including the seed that generated it (for debugging).

You can quickly verify if a game was legitimate by checking these logs.

It’s hard to believe the integrity of anyone when hundreds of thousnds of dollars are on the line a game of chance.

In the UK, logging is law because of disputes like this.

Fun fact, in the states all games use weighted reels (by law they can’t use rejection mechanics), so the kind of error that causes a jackpot trigger is far less likely than the jackpot itself by quite a few orders of magnitude.

If I were in the lady’s shoes I’d have the machine checked for tampering, as this is more likely given the unusually specific outcome.
