So the comic started running in newspapers in 1930 but ran until 1973. In my head canon this woman carpenter is in her early 70s in the comic. The 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote was passed in 1920. So I’m guessing she was one of these badass suffragettes when she was younger:

Dagwood’s got a pretty nice table saw, though Mrs. Mullican needs to use the fence and a fuckin push-stick.
