The “Well to Hell” is an urban legend regarding a putative borehole in Russia which was purportedly drilled so deep that it broke through into Hell. It is first attested in English as a 1989 broadcast by a U.S. domestic religion-based TV broadcaster, Trinity Broadcasting Network.
i’ve heard about that story a few times and wanted to share with you people. Even if it’s fake and debunked, the story is eerie and just perfect.
Soviet Scientists wanted to learn about the earth’s crust and how deep it is. People began digging 7.5 miles down the earth, the scientists began lowering equipment, including a microphone and a camera (heat tolerant ofc) with other sensory equipment. The temperature was about 1100c/2000f
After the sound recordings were brought to the scientsits, they began to anaylize the sounds. If you listen closely to the recordings, you’ll soon understand the horrors.

The debunking behind this was very cool, IMO - the fact that it was a compilation from cult classic horror films (as I remember) was very awesome. As I remember they were from the Evil Dead film, mostly?
