They’ll blame anything and everything as long as it diverts attention from the issue of wealth inequality driving more and more people to poverty. The Democratic party keeps talking about social justice issues making them lose elections, but that’s because they’re the only “safe” things their donors let them talk about. Can’t talk about money.
I think Gavin Newsom would’ve been the most logical decision. I think Walz was a better pick than Buttigiege. I am just speaking as someone thinking of what I would have done…
Honestly, when going against Trump I have always thought the strategy I would employ would be to grab a guy like Gavin Newsom, keep him in the middle as much as possible, give him a very tepid, normal Democrat platform, and just hug center while acting like Trump is a weirdo who is far right. This is the strategy I think the media would do best at helping with.
Buttigiege would not really help with this - not because I think being gay is an issue, but because he is uncharismatic and only looks bad standing next to virtually anyone, lol.
I am not sure about that, Gavin Newsom’s track record is the type of things documentaries about failed presidential campaigns are made of.
Newsom has a horrible reputation. There are much better people to run against Trump in 2016 or 2024. People want to claim it was a problem because they were women, but that wasn’t the issue. They were just disliked people. The good news for the Democrats is Trump is done after 2028.
I remember something about him having an affair, right.
Nonetheless, he seems to be competent and he comes off as capable of handling himself well in a debate and in front of a camera.
He’s run California into the ground. The rest of America doesn’t want that. He’s also tied to pelosi.
If you notice his current strategy is acting like he’s running against Trump. He isn’t.
Yeah like I understand all the conservative arguments against Newsom, but he seemed like the most reasonable candidate to me for the Democrats when they have had such an issue finding anyone except Bernie (who is too old now) who has any kind of broad appeal.
Which makes me wonder… Who will run for the Dems in 2028.
Newsom is only popular with a small group. Across the nation he’s pretty disliked. Governors run on their track record and his record is embarrassing.
What success can he show? He’s everything bad about the the democrats and nothing good.
