So what they’re doing is when somebody’s posting questions on Reddit they’re responding with links that look legitimate, but they’re not and when you click on them you get this malware called Luma malware. I don’t know what it’s supposed to do or whatever but just wanted to let you know spread the word.
Thanks for sharing, Alice. Good to keep up to date on this stuff.
Rule that can help to avoid this kind of stuff: Google search for the results instead of relying on links from online strangers. Assume all links are malicious and all users are out to hack your computer with random links. On a lesser scale of evil, links going to legitimate sites that don’t download malware can still hurt you by capturing data about your computer and sharing it with the person who shared the link.
Better to just go search for the information yourself. If someone shares a scientific journal with you, just google for the name of the journal entry, for example.
Welcome. Ah, those are good points. I agree. Think I’ll get into the habit of doing this. Ty!
