Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•Fixed a slow shower drainEnglish
5·21 hours agoIs there a simple way to clean them? I dry heave every time I have to pull out sink clogs, so I just use the little $1 disposable plastic ones so I can chuck it in the trash and be done with it. I’d prefer to have less one use plastic, but every time I’ve tried to clean them off (even with gloves on) it’s been such a sensory nightmare I couldn’t take it.
I definitely thought this was posted to !transmemes@lemmy.blahaj.zone at first
If you’re not joking, reach out to your college’s academic support/tutoring centers. They’re literally paid to be there and help you with your classes. Even if you understand all the class content already they can still help you with whatever you’re struggling with, like figuring out how much time a project needs or how to get it started/organized.
I struggled my first go ‘round in college 20 years ago and wish I’d known that, now that I’m going back I’ve been using the support systems the college has a lot more and it’s been paying off.
You bastard, see if I give you the full dose of narcan!
I wonder if it was inspired by the columnar jointing formations you can find in Iceland?

It made me laugh when it was in response to someone getting mad at me after arguing, but occasionally I’d make a highly upvoted comment that was related to being trans or gay and then get them, and that pissed me off. It’s not possible to prove that’s what happened without access to server logs of course, but I for sure wasn’t talking about being depressed or suicidal or anything like that on Reddit, and it was suspicious at minimum.
I always knew I had won an argument when they stopped replying and I got the Reddit cares message. If the ‘report abuse’ link that was in those messages ever led to consequences I never saw it.

Out of the loop@lemmy.world•What's all the recent fuss about the number 67?English
10·3 days agoHow many restaurants even have 67 or more menu items that you can select by number? This seems like a very niche ‘problem’ for the news to be concerned over
I think red-capped would be a good name too! In general I’m a fan of birds having as many common names as makes sense, haha
There also seems to be a distinct lack of meaning for life for the wealthy. Any changes they could effect with their money means they wouldn’t have the money anymore, so they stop caring about any problems their money could fix (which is a lot of them). Ultimately leading to complete callousness over human suffering.
Red-bellied is completely accurate, you just normally don’t see the belly:

Red-headed was already taken:

Does looking at this make anyone else start wheezing?
Yeah, it’s from an infamously terrible Chinese bootleg of Revenge of the Sith, which they translated as “Backstroke of the West”.
Holy shit, I’d completely forgotten the origin of that meme.

If he was convicted surely this is legally a victim, no alleged about it?? (If the video explains this I didn’t see it, I don’t watch articles)

Gaming@lemmy.world•What's going on over at dwarf fortress?English
31·6 days agoI’ve seen and picked up describing Rimworld as Dwarf Fortress for babies (positive). Sometimes I want a baby game! Like, 1000+ hours of a baby game. Don’t judge me.

7·7 days agoChris Stringer, a human evolution specialist at the Natural History Museum, said fossils from Britain and Spain suggest the inhabitants of Barnham were early Neanderthals whose cranial features and DNA point to growing cognitive and technological sophistication.
Neat!

Technology@lemmy.zip•Report Exposes Instacart's Hidden AI Price Experiments That Could Cost Families $1,200 Per YearEnglish
14·7 days agoI’d be really interested in states pursuing lawsuits over this on SNAP/EBT grounds, if nothing else. Not sure about all states, but in California you can pay for food on Instacart with EBT. Changing the price based on consumer data leaves that wide open for exploiting poor people to get more government money.
We’re actually doing pretty good right now, drought wise! Over 80% of California isn’t considered in a drought, and what is in a drought is at the lowest level (D0, abnormally dry).
So, theoretically, this year shouldn’t be particularly terrifying during the Santa Anas.

Maybe through convergent evolution the pagan solstice celebrations just turned into Christmas. Yay, pagan Whos!
