Vampires confirmed. I believe they were everywhere in Africa before Toto arrived.

Thanks, I probably will change soon, but I have to convince my partner first…
If you don’t want to get thrown in prison don’t go publicly criticising the government of the country you’re in that throws people in prison for criticising the government.
People don’t understand that by spending money in a country, you’re supporting the government and system of that country. And you have to behave according to their rules. I won’t willingly go to countries whose systems I don’t agree with so I don’t support them, but so many people say Qatar airways is so nice, and forget about the oppression of women and the whole slavery and dead workers for the world cup there.
I know my money isn’t worth shit to them, but I won’t give it to them anyway.
If you don’t agree with the way they treat people, don’t go there.
I struggle with this all the time. I hate watching cute piggy videos because I remember them next time I eat bacon.
Yeah… Usually I just check the price to see if I can sauna or not. It’s by far the biggest user of power in my apartment.
Aussie in Finland here. We have an electricity system here with “spot price”. I get charged a price per kWh depending on the forecasted supply (from producers) and demand (from history and other math) and it changes every hour. At the time of writing this it is 0.60 c/kWh (+margin+transmission+taxes for a total of 7.87c/kWh).
When demand is higher, like winter, and supply is lower (maintenance or faults or no wind), the price can go up to 30-50c, but when there is plenty of power about the energy price can go into negatives.
This makes an effect on usage and stabilises the system. But probably too hard to set up.
I was walking through the city, watched as a man in a suit in front of me (I was walking behind him for a couple of blocks) picked up a briefcase beside a newsstand and got in the passenger seat of a waiting black car which drove off.
I’m in a spy movie, I guess.
My grandma used to water the garden around the house and spray water over the roof on hot days. Try that first.
And don’t forget the division. A piece of shit, is bad, like a car that won’t start, or a selfish person. A big piece of shit or a huge piece of shit is worse, but it’s never a whole shit, because then it would be The shit, and good.
I’m hoping for a future without money. Where everyone can get what they need and want.
Indeed, the potential consequences are concerning. Addiction to AI-driven technologies is a real issue, especially when they become ubiquitous. Utilizing local AI for mental health support could indeed mitigate some risks. However, we must proceed cautiously to navigate the complexities of integrating AI into our daily lives. And yes, envisioning a world where everyone converses like language models is both fascinating and slightly eerie.
Enough of some to get me into trouble. I edited nethack to give me 95% probability to get wands of death, but then everyone got wands of death. And I still know Hypercard.
In a lot of places, if an establishment has a liquor licence, it is forbidden to drink your own alcohol you brought from outside. Technically you can’t bring a beer back to your hotel room from anywhere but the hotel’s own bar.
Alcohol laws are complicated.
It’s not consent if there are fifty pages of legalese to read before you press accept.
I got banned on Facebook for saying “fatty acids” because “fatty” is a bad word.
I’m interested in parts of the trip. Mainly the foods and food markets. What they ate where. If they want to tell me about the views or the guy at that shop who said something, I’ll feign interest.
Anyone who has been on a “cruise holiday” eats on the ship, and the food may be good but it isn’t exciting or too exotic. I want to know how you ate a sausage and found out later it was an earthworm but it was really nice because they grilled it with lime and stuff and you couldn’t tell.
