Yeah, the 90s were a good time for movies that could not have been mainstream in any other decade. I’d place Judge Dredd, Demolition Man and Total Recall in the same “corny, but excellent” league as the 5th Element.
Then you had unofficial double features of sorts: Smoke/ Blue In The Face, Casino/ Goodfellas.
12 Monkeys needs to be mentioned as well, it’s probably the most palatable movie on my list.
In the “disconcerting, but unforgettable” league, I’d place As Good As It Gets, The Crossing Guard and, of course, the grisly “8 mm.”

Oh, yeah. It unofficially spawned “Friends,” too. Also, if you watch the music videos of the OST songs, you’ll find many (all?) of them have a “Singles” movie poster hanging somewhere. What an amazing level of coordination.

Maybe another time traveller disturbed the shooter by pushing him because what would have happened if Trump was shot dead would have been truly apocalyptic in the longer run. Maybe we just witnessed the n-th time loop without remembering the other ones and this is the first one where the bullet only grazes Trump’s ear instead of blowing his brains out so now life on Earth as we know it can continue, and we can post about it on Lemmy.

I just watched that video of the white cabbage larva with the smaller larvae exiting its body. Jeez, it’s still alive after THAT? Life’s rich pageant, I guess.

I noticed AMP links started popping up all over Reddit. Before Google started injecting money, posting those was discouraged. Surely it’s a total coincidence.

Ever seen DMSO solidify upon cooling? I wouldn’t even call it vitrification, it obviously has macroscopically large crystalline domains. It would be like putting rocks in your veins. I mean it kind of works fine for single cells because the failures* can be treated as a statistic, but anything on the scale of organs will become damaged just too badly.

It can burn diamond at 720 °C, what do you think it’ll do to soft tissue over the course of an entire lifetime. Things helping aerobic life survive are
a) partially consisting of partially oxidized polymers in the form of carbohydrates (remember, the only thing that cannot burn is what has already been burned);
b) oxygen’s peculiar, natural triplet state which greatly slows down its kinetics compared e.g. to its horrible relative, ozone.
