  • the authority they feel they deserve

Facists argue that a certain group deserves authority, communists argue precisely the opposite, that the current regime with authority doesn’t deserve it and it should be apportioned equally and democratically instead. Because you live in a world where 99% of the media is controlled by the capitalists, you have been conditioned since birth to believe that every single movement of the people was actually a movement of a small group of elites, and that the countries that are currently exclusively controlled by their elites are in some way democratic.

  • Your best option for a sidecar is to find something used that’s already set up. Before I bought my current bike I test rode a Triumph that had an Indian-made sidecar (the country, not the motorcycle brand) attached to it, and that bike was pretty nice but I couldn’t afford it at the time.

But if you’re in Europe, then Chang Jiang has new bikes in the EU. It’s got a modern engine too, not just an updated old engine like Ural has. It’s a Taiwanese company AFAIK, so it’s separate from the Chang Jiangs that come out of mainland China, which I believe are all still refurbished military bikes from the 60s. Dunno if they’re in your country or not, but I was really disappointed to learn that they don’t sell them in America because it would have been my preferred choice.

  • The Soviets had an “apartment swap” system for people who wanted to move around filled-to-capacity neighborhoods. You would get on the list with where you currently lived and put in where you wanted to move and would get informed when there was a match. Sometimes matches would be arranged in triangles or other more complex shapes, but since everybody involved needed to get on the same page this was rare. The wait to move depended on how lucky you were - sometimes you’d get a match right away, sometimes you’d forget about it until ten years later when you would get a letter asking if you were still interested.

This was all in the 60s and 70s when things were generally more chill.
