I think if I come at you with the express purpose of venting, then just some validation is really all I’m looking for, personally. A “that sounds hard” or “dang, dealing with X sounds rough”. Things like that make me feel like you’re actually listening and like I’m okay to feel so frazzled about whatever is happening.
Another approach that I think is good is asking whether or not whoever is talking to you wants validation, or solutions. I’m guilty of always offering solutions when people want to just vent and be heard, so that’s always a good stop gap.
But I absolutely understand how awkward it can be trying to be there for someone and, of course, your results may vary. Still, communication gets us everywhere!
I’m with you on “this too shall pass”. My family uses this like it’s their damn catchphrase and while I’m sure the intentions are good, sometimes I would like validation when I complain about my life being a shit show, not just an idle ‘this too shall pass’. Might as well have just shrugged and walked away.

I have a difficult time reading and Fool is one I return to often and read from front to back. It’s definitely my favorite of his so far, but I haven’t read too many others.

I just utterly adore this book in every way. I’m sure it has problems but I am a shallow reader, so it’s fine for me.
I’ve been casually looking at the ioniqs - is anything in the interior intrusive? I have a problem with EVs having massive screens or way way too many buttons.
Not too much of a rabbit hole, but it’s fun to waste some time on some small thing here and there. I find a lot of fun or weird stuff there and I love it.

I haven’t done it in a long time, but I used to turn out all the lights and lay on the floor and listen to this album from start to finish, it’s so good.
I know it doesn’t really count - but I saw The Lion King the last time they toured before sticking to Broadway and man. I get really emotional with live music and cried through the whole thing, damn frission lol. Still, an utterly incredible performance and one that I would happily see again even if it meant going to NYC.
For an actual concert, gosh there are so many to choose from. But I saw Shawn James in a tiny little venue in Seattle where I stood on a balcony and watched the show from on high. I’ve never been one for psychedelic music and his definitely isn’t that, but there were a few times where the energy in the room and the music and the atmosphere was absolutely transcendent in a way I can only describe as psychedelic. Truly incredible.
Didn’t read the article, but my partner and I went on a Caribbean cruise in 2022 ish. Generally, it was fine. We had a good time.
But personally I would never do that again. I hate crowds and it was super crowded, I’m shy and awkward and didn’t try to meet anyone new, and I just felt weird on the land excursions where the locals seemed like they hated their jobs but it was the best industry for them to feed their families.
I will say the restaurants on board were phenomenal (but not included in the price point), and the shows were fun. But the best time I had was just spent on my balcony, watching the world go by.
I’d say probably 22-24. I’d prefer a little older for sure, but at age 25-26 a disease I didn’t know I had got much much worse and has effectively robbed me of half my life. So a little younger for me.
Atlantis is a little silly, but in a campy way that never takes itself too seriously. SG-1 does a better job at keeping the tone pretty serious throughout, but with comedic intervals whereas Atlantis definitely tries for more humor. Both are really good though.
I loved the one about the staircases. I grew up exploring the woods and you find some really bizarre things in places you’d never think, so it always seemed fairly plausible to me in some way. I mean I’ve found an empty and fairly new coca cola vending machine miles deep into some hilly woods, just sitting there like it had apparated there.
As an 800 hour player that has to put the game down because of competitiveness making me a curmudgeon – Wow, gotta say. That’s so much work.
Did you use the practice modes to get to be that level or did it just come to you during play?
