Tidal is actually THE highest paying platform for artists if I remember correctly.
However, tidal adjusts it’s prices for the country’s gdp, so it’s half the price here in Romania. This also means the artists payout is reduced, so that’s worth noting.
Inside Out is a great example of just that. While I couldn’t find the scene, here’s an excerpt from tvtropes.com:

If I remember correctly, the characters actually acknowledge the shift to less detailed artstyles.
It’s kinda funny, I saw them live a couple of weeks ago, and they only played one song from the great heathen army, heidrun. Most played were from jomsviking, berserker and twilight of the thunder god, with 3 each. Still an amazing show though lml
Probably Amon Amarth’s Oden Owns You All, from The Great Heathen Army. It’s just… boring. There’s nothing in it. The entire record feels a little inconsistent, but I’d rather listen to something off Sorrow Throughout The Nine Worlds.

I’m on a road trip, so I’m constantly listening to music, album after album.
Today, so far, I listened to Disturbed’s The Sickness for the first time (it was ok, kinda disappointed, since I love Ten Thousand Fists), Amon Amarth’s Twilight Of The Tunder God (one of my favourites, also their most popular album), and In Flames’ Colony, which is their second last melodic death metal album.
You might want to know that old spotify versions work perfectly.
Up until I switched to tidal 4 months ago, I was using a version of spotify from August 2023 to avoid all the “tiktokerry” that appeared everywhere. I tested many versions, and the point where the app stops working seems to be somewhere in 2017
It does exist, and it does use your extentions.
In Romania, they are removing mqa content making everything flacs, which in my opinion is good*, as mqa is lossy compression, labeled as “max”. I don’t know about the rest of the world, but it might help you.
I have not seen any artists on spotify that weren’t on tidal. I do not know about the experience on other music services.
*Quick rant. Mqa cannot be played on browsers, and as such, some of my favorite albums could only be played at CD quality on my desktop computer (running linux). For this reason, I consider this change a good one.

Tidal offers more in terms of audio quality as well. Admittedly, while most of their catalogue maxes out at CD quality FLACs (16-bit, 44.1 khz), they offer up to 24-bit, 192 khz FLACs.
I will, however add that, in my country, Romania, there is no tidal for free, and there is no tidal plus/hi-fi. There is one subscription, named TIDAL, that covers all of the features, at the same price of 24 RON, equivalent to around 6 USD. However, paying from the app, instead of the website, Google takes a cut and the price is higher, so subscribe from the website.
As for the Apple ecosystem, I cannot comment on that, because I don’t use an apple device.
I’m about to have my first in about 2 weeks, other than that, I can tell you people like to dress in suits, mainly more colorful ones.

I just donated mine and there doesn’t seem to be one. Try to go to a computer store, SD card adapters aren’t very expensive these days. P.S. I just remembered it uploads automatically if you’re connected to the internet
