I am against animal agriculture for the same reason I am against sexism, racism, ableism, classism and homophobia.

The circumstances of a creatures birth does not dictate what it is “meant for”, every one deserves to live happy, healthily and with dignity, but some simply want to live.

  • Books, not just reading but long form text. If someone doesn’t want listen, then they won’t even if they pretend otherwise.

So if a talented author puts out a message, the reader has to continually choosing to read, intake and process what is being communicated. It’s easy to tune out of conversation, videos or lectures without realizing it. But if you make it to the end of the page and don’t know what just happened, it’s entirely at your discretion to go back and reprocess. Infinitely repeatable while requiring constant buy-in without the concept of just waiting out the duration while thinking of other things. To my mind, if you want to understand a complex idea than books are easily the best method.

  • Okay, so I like bummer movies.

The Worst Person in the World

Might be my new favorite. Tells the story of a womans life over the course of several years. I adore this format where you can see realistic problems unfold, how relationships were doomed from the start and how others can be repaired with time. I’m sure there are people who would say it’s boring and nothing major happens. But, isn’t that life? We all create our own drama.

I don’t think she is the worst person in the world. But I understand what she might think that of herself.

    Club Zero

A slow burn horror about toxic flawed faith in extreme diet culture. Did you know that you don’t ACTUALLY need to eat? Companies just TELL you that to sell you more food. It takes legitimate criticism of consumerism well past what I thought was extreme. Fantastic yet tragically plausible.

    August: Osage County

Lots of big names doing A+ performances, a brutal story of a strained dysfunctional family finally breaking when their father disappears. When your parents do nothing but sow discord and cruelty they’ll only reap chaos and heartbreak. The abject cruelty is hard to stomach at points, but it fosters the payoff as the family learns to stand up for themselves.

  • I have no idea if I’m in the right to be mad. I should be fully and only mad at my dad, but i’m mad at everyone involved because in my mind they let the situation develop

Oh absolutly you have the right to be pissed at them all. You’re right to recognize that fundamentally your dad is responsible for his own actions, but it would be naive not to notice the toxic culture around binge drinking. Here he is just dropped on your lap needing care that he can’t provide for himself. You are entirely correct to be frustrated at those who made it your problem. Including and especially him! I imagine you wouldn’t care much if he drunkingly kept to himself, but instead he hurts your mother and makes his wellbeing your responsibility. I’m really sorry you gotta deal with this all. I would be pissed too. :(

  • True Incognito mode is a myth, it only stops keeping a history in the tab of that browser. Everytime you use a browser to go to any site ever, the browser logs you went there. So does your ISP and the site your connecting to. No matter which mode or browser you use, if you go to Google, then Google knows you went there and logs your searches.

The closest you can come to browsing the web anonymously would be with a mix of dedicated privacy OS like Tails and either a VPN or Tor as a middile man, but that assumes those proxys are not corrupted. Free VPNs make money by selling your “secret browsing” habits.

The internet is nothing more than wires, if you connect your wire to someone elses, every intermediatary knows.

  • “I’m probably more excited though about the playful elements of AI,” he said. “I play with probably 30 or 40 people regularly. There’s not a single person who doesn’t use AI somehow for either campaign development or character development or story ideas. That’s a clear signal that we need to be embracing it.”

So as a DM and Player, yes, there are uses for AI. Generating a good character portrait as opposed to scouring search engines is the obvious one. But I also had good useage with putting my loose outline in to AI story generators, while it only produced garbage cliches that I didn’t use. It was a good way to brainstorm and see different angles of my original idea.

Having said all that, I super duper don’t want AI to become a core part of DND/MTG, art in products should be ACTUAL art by ACTUAL artists. Not my 8 fingered free placeholder nonsense. I truly struggle to think of a good way that hasbro could be using AI that would help the game.
