You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that the idea that drivers pay for roads is a myth, because funding sources also include property taxes, sales taxes and income taxes that people pay regardless of whether they drive or not
1·28 days agoMust be a city thing, only reason people complain about bikes where I’m at is they sometimes like to use the center of the lane like a car but don’t follow traffic laws

1·28 days agoEliminating cars in cities and reducing them in towns makes sense. It doesn’t for people that are spread out. I live 15 minutes from the nearest town(by car), with a 900f change in elevation. Not very doable for most people, and essentially impossible in winter.

No one can force you to take medication. You just say you don’t want them.
Or go ahead and try some. Don’t like the effects? Don’t take them.
Who is in your life that is going to bully you with that? They don’t sound great

6·1 month agoEh, I feel like this is a bit misleading. Cortisol is bad for your heart. Unusually high or low temperatures causing stress makes sense. As far as I know people living in the extremes on our planet don’t have worse hearts.

It works as a comedic dialog on the values of our society shifting away from science. It’s also incredibly ironic due to the number of people that point to it as if it has any basis in facts. I could barely watch it because there is nothing in that movie that makes sense, yet is referenced as if it does.
