Agreed that the reason people are hungry needs to be addressed. However, it’s far better than nothing faith based or otherwise.

I won’t get started on a bank vs. a pantry, but they are different. What a pantry offers and when they are open varies drastically between pantries. Out of date food does not necessarily mean that it isn’t safe to eat. The FDA has a table of food types and when to throw it away. Canned and dried foods are typically good well past the expiration date.

I work at a food pantry, we are open one day a week. Pre Trump the average was 25 families, our typical now is 36. Yesterday there were 55 famlies, 150 people total. I don’t know what we are going to do next week if the snap benefits lapse. We can’t handle that many people regularly.

I don’t see any reason pepper spray should be banned. Even if the police are on top of things, they cant be everywhere. Pepper spray sucks but it doesn’t cause any damage, if used outside. Not useful in the tube. Tasers can cause burns, and can be dangerous to people with certain medical conditions.

But the met uses both of those on civilians. As a woman the only option is a rape alarm and hope a friendly stranger is close enough to hear and respond. Or a 3in non locking pocket knife. Which is not great for defense.

There are a mix in comics. The good are superheroes the bad are supervillians. And some of them are in the grey. Batman doesn’t kill, but has no problem beating the shit out of henchman. Red hood killed people for good reasons, most of the time. He is sometimes a hero and sometimes a villain. Poison Ivy is a villain who often helps women and doesn’t hurt kids.
