The structural driver that over decades tore safety and excellence out from Boeing’s engineers, greed and more greed, has been removed so there is no longer a risk that Boeing leaders would trade human life for 1/4% increase in their own stock price.

This is a poor analogy. Those installed in Doge knew exactly the value and reason the systems. Processes, people, regulations and institutions they are deleting existed; they didn’t want them to as it was disadvantageous to their greedy fixation on omnipotence.

Higher education, especially smaller, private universities are going to collapse from the post-war structure. Large, public, universities will be fine, online will proliferate and costs will plunge.
Even still, if everyone keeps saying all college jobs are going to disappear from AI, it’s going to just eliminate that higher ed completely. Mcdonalds U will be all that most people know of education after high school.

There was a good scene where Burry (played by Carrell) went to fitch and asked them why they hadn’t changed the rating on the MBS(shit sandwich) when the underlying mortgages were worth zero. The Fitch person said they didn’t feel the need to. They were of course being paid–and still are–by the companies they rate.
Yep, they paid a class action lawsuit for anticompetitive behavior for exactly this, but it was long ago. It surely still happens, but they may not be stupid enough, at this one particular company, to put it in an email anymore.
The new “bi-party affordable housing bill” that became law today is largely aimed at removing regulations and requirements on modular/manufactured housing. It adds–get this–a new special mortgage for affordable housing under 100k. I mean, short of Marty McFly, no one is able to buy more than a doghouse for 100k. This is the kind of shit that passes with “strong support”. Rather than build shared, affordable, efficient housing, a lobby yet again wrote a bill that won’t help much or many.
