      Right!? There are so many great new phones and only the Pixels support custom roms. Asus “temporarily” removed the bootloader unlock tool. Sony has bs drivers. Samsung is… Samsung.

        The peak age of Android as an open system has been gone for a long time for exactly the reason you describe.

        motorola has some support, however i own less popular model w/o any custom roms or anything

          But it’s motorola. It doesn’t have as good phones as others.

            their update policy sucks and cameras are avg but performance is good because of stock android

              I don’t really care about the performance anymore. All new phones will work good enough. Of course, I wouldn’t like to have the heat of the sun in my pocket. Cameras are much more important to me. This is the only place where you can see performance difference in new phones.
