What’s funny, is you’ll get women on the opposite side saying that pornography is empowering to women.

But then at the same time, you’ll get women who complain that it’s degrading.

Most of the women in the sex industry have been sexually abused in their lives this is usually why they fall into that type of work.

So I do not think that it should be glamoroized or something to aspire to.

It gives men unrealistic expectations of beauty and sex and it affects women’s self-image and feelings of self-worth.

I would have to say what pisses me off the most about this topic, is how not just men but women, normalize it and make it as though that the people who have a problem with pornography are selfish and that somehow they are the ones with the problem in the relationship.

I’m not a Christian I consider myself agnostic but I think that sex is sacred.

It’s been cheapened throughout history in my opinion and with pornography especially and I feel like we need to get away from that.

I think porn is bad but I think it’s a symptom of other problems, namely a lack of healthy good relationships instead in society (who would look at porn if they could just be married and be with their spouse?)

I’ve also thought about it and although I don’t want to defend it, I think porn may be “less bad” than people sleeping around more instead (where STDs, broken hearts, and unprepared for pregnancies can proliferate). like some people talk of banning porn and I wonder if it would cause a whole host of these other problems, while not really fixing the main issues at play (it would probably produce more of a “hookup culture on steroids” rather than create more families?)

So it’s kind of like this (still unhealthy) middle ground between healthy relationships and unhealthy fornication or adultery

I think probably improving healthy relationships of social networks in general may combat this problem more

Overall I agree, I think banning porn would be silly. Porn would naturally lose influence if we saw a return to more traditional family values.
