I have xperia 1 III and will use it until it dies, but there is very little chance that I’m buying xperia next, mainly because the camera is so shit. I don’t really care for the camera that much, but the picture quality is only comparable to xiaomi <200€ phones, that is way to shit compared to the price I’m paying.

And I wonder how, not having the pressure to “succeed” research (to gain further grants), would increase the quality of said research.

They sell cases to make a small desktop/media center, you can resell them for people that need that or weaker laptop is fine. Or you can recycle.
Outside companies almost never get the same benefits as local ones, that’s true even outside of china. Another thing is that china has national interests in chinese carmakers.
