Europe is also leading the world in terms of progressive AI laws, something we’re not likely to see in any meaningful way for some time here in the US.
I think the lack of correlation between public opinion and government policy is more than satisfactory to demonstrate how much our federal legislators care about your phone calls, yes.
Also an excellent way to end conversation about a controversial topic when needed.
Deleted mine two years ago.
Kinda surprised it took everyone this long, TBH.
If *anyone were really worried about the nuclear family and abortion, they would make it so that a family could live on a single income again.
FTFY
They didn’t show up because they spent four years under Trump and four years under Biden, and all they got for the effort of voting in those elections was being significantly poorer, so why forego a day’s pay?
You’re the self-righteous dipshit for not caring about the quality of people you vote for.
I wouldn’t trust it. We now live in an era where, if you want control of any kind of information, you simply can’t share it digitally in any way.
To each their own. For me it was a neat gift and a joyful experience.
I think you misread what I wrote.
My older brother is a Tony Award winning producer and I took a trip to NYC ten years ago. His business partner is a former schoolteacher who became friends with a celebrity and got rich producing her stage plays.
Before going to NYC, I called them up and told them “Hey, I’m going to go see the Yankees while I’m there. There are $15 tickets in the outfield. Wanna go?” It was Jeter’s last year and I wanted to see him play live at Yankee Stadium. Their response was “Don’t worry, we’ll handle it.”
Handling it meant lunch at the stadium club, with Peyton Manning and a bunch of celebrities in the dining room and lobster piled higher than my head, literally. The most luxurious lunch I’ve had in my life. Then we rode the escalator down to our seats, through a tunnel lined with every free candy you can think of on both sides, to the second row behind the Yankee dugout, with our own dedicated server, who kept bringing us wonderful drinks. (TEN FEET AWAY FROM DEREK JETER) Then, in the third inning, another surprise: someone taps me on my shoulder holding one of the bases from batting practice, which my brother’s business partner purchased and had framed for me with my ticket and a photo.
That was too overwhelming. I couldn’t help but cry.
We went for another meal in the 7th inning. The food was still fresh and amazing.
The Yankees lost that day, but it’s okay.
I call it my ‘Make a Wish’ Day.
Yup, started focusing on that this week myself, just buying extra rice, pasta, canned goods at least until the inauguration.
Waking up to a quiet, clean house every day, with no children.
It’s simple, and history has borne this out many many times.
In a bad economy, no one cares about your politics if you’re the candidate of change. There’s a reason why Harris spent two months repeating memes instead of defending Biden’s policies, because it’s impossible to defend the fact that you had four years to rule and there are more people working 2-3 jobs just to survive.
They knew they needed to appeal to workers. Instead, they spent most of the campaign repeating this meaningless platitude about joy to people who are being worked to death.
Well first we need an overwhelming blue wave so the GOP in its current form collapses.
I don’t know where you’ve been for the last 40 years, but the Democrats are not a progressive party. Look at all of the things that happened when Biden had power that they did nothing meaningful to stop: Roe repeal, cop cities, 2+ trillion for war, child genocide in Israel, rent/grocery/energy bills skyrocketing.
You have to ask me to ignore the daily realities of my life under Joe Biden in order for me to honestly assume Kamala or Trump will do anything meaningful to help people.
He dropped his campaign for the same reason Pete and Elizabeth dropped out and endorsed Joe Biden, who was polling lower than they were.
Favors. (Or as I like to think of them, bribes)
Are you really ignoring that, no matter who we elect, we get conservative politics?
That said what matters most is the down ballot.
100%.
Here in Missouri we have an abortion ban and a $15 minimum wage on the ballot, so no matter who you support, your vote makes a huge difference in this election.
At the federal level, none of us have any power, because you get presented with two flavors of the same choice, both of whom have been installed by the 0.01% and will actively work against the interests of the poor and working class; However, in your town, city, and county, you do have tremendous power for change.
You don’t. That’s what the homeless people are for.
But, it’s not impossible to move up. When oil crashed in March 2020, several companies’ stock, which you can purchase on Robin Hood or any app-based exchange, were down to pennies. Those shares are now trading for $15-$25 dollars, so even if you bought a small amount, you made a tidy profit. It’s how I paid off my student loans.
Trump, in his largesse and incompetence, is likely to inadvertently cause a market crash somewhere in the next four years, so I’d encourage you to save at least a few bucks if you can from each check against the possibility of being able to buy stock super-cheap in the wake of a crash. If you have the patience to hold your stock for a year or two, it’s rewarding.
