That would suck to have to have done that, sounds like he was at least a empathetic human.
It’s horrific to witness that kind of death, or it was for me.

Yeah, it took a while to get over that shit, but I guess it worked because I sure as shit changed my ways.
As a result of being a dumb ass teenager the state gave me 50 community service hours. I got assigned to an animal shelter that was being managed by some very deranged people. I witnessed some horrific things that mentally unstable people will do to animals when no one cares.
My job was to pile up the euthanized animals in a pickup and off load them at the landfill. Fucking grim.
That we are emotional animals that sometimes have logical thoughts. But we live in a society (at least in the west) where we have to pretend that we are logical animals that sometimes have emotions.
The last really serious relationship started by meeting at a bar.
It was great because there was no expectations when we first started talking so the conversation was just natural, just two people talking. We exchanged numbers and soon started dating. I really think that it worked was because it was just an accidental meeting and we were both relaxed and had no ulterior motive.
I also think because dating in the wild there are fewer filters and few options, so you go with what you got. They may not be perfect but it’s better than sitting around swiping for the perfect person that may not exist.
If I notice that I am spending too much time trying to cover all the bases so someone can’t nitpick or acktually my reply I just give up and hit cancel. I appreciate an entertaining comment thread, what bug the shit out of me are people that reply to a comment with an obscure edge case or who are just pedantic for the sake of being pedantic.
And its because of this real lack of quality care for the elderly (outside of the wealthy elderly) that I workout and eat right as much as I can. I probably won’t be able to afford a good retirement home so I need to stay as health and fit as I can for as long as I can.
Not online games but I’ve experienced this in other ways.
used to play in a ‘beer-in-hand’ kickball league. The game is played where you have to have always be holding a cup of beer (or water) while you are playing the game. It’s silly and fun and most people don’t take it seriously. Yet every season there was one team full of over achieving type A personalities that took it WAYYYYYY to seriously. Yelling at the refs if they feel they didn’t get a call right, yelling at the other team if they didn’t get the score right, being overall very aggressive. I swear they thought this was the Olympic tryouts or something.
No one liked playing that team, actually they were one of the main reasons that our group of friends stopped all together.
has the added benefit of potentially provoking them into getting themselves arrested if there are cops watching.
As long as the cops don’t sympathize with the nazis
I’ve thought about this idea for a long time.
Having sensors in the road (along the side and middle line) and receivers on cars would do a lot of good.
The sensors could tell the car how close it is to the side/middle. They could tell the car how close other cars are around them. They could tell the car the condition of the road surface (ex wet or icy). They could be programmed to the speed limit of the road and keep the cars moving at that speed. Probably many others uses.
The downside is building a sensor that can withstand weather, traffic, crumbling infrastructure. Also they would have to have a way to stay powered up for years. And if you made them re-programmable there is another level of security that needs to be added to them. And then there is the cost to retro-fit all the roads with these sensors and building a common receiver that could be installed on new cars.
I don’t think my idea is practical at all but it’s a cool idea
weight loss is great but as you get older building muscle and strength is just as important - especially if you are female.
Had a guy pass me on the right going 20+ over the limit while taking a bong hit.
Maybe, but really when you are in bear territory, and close to areas where bear congregate (rivers being one), just a few loud claps and a couple of loud “HEYS” is good enough to flush most bears.
This video while long does a great job teaching you how to act in active bear territory.

I think the four part series called The West by Ken Burns is shorter and probably better.
I’m a little biased but I do look down on men that lack any handyman skills
That is a lot biased to the point that you can’t even see that other men’s lives may have put them in a position of not learning those things or even wanting to learn those things. It’s great that you know how to do those things but just because someone has a penis doesn’t mean they have to learn how to be handy. That doesn’t make them any less of a man, just different from you.
That is true it is a big part of society and how to get along, and you would think that because this is one of the foundations of this society it would be a bigger part of someone’s education. This shouldn’t be something people should have to figure out on their own in order to feed themselves and their family
One semester of Schmooze 101 could go along way in helping an awkward yet brilliant scientist get the funding they need.
I do appreciate posts like those.
My objective when I look through a comment thread, especially in a topic I don’t know much about, I’m looking for the well reasoned posts. I admit I’m a human (confirmed via captchas) and love to have my opinions validated, but I also like to read a different take on a situation or issue. And because I am not in a situation where I don’t feel like I have to defend my opinion I’m more open to seeing a different perspective.
So thank you for taking the time to write those out - and to others that do that thank you as well.
Why does my stomach hurt after eating french toast?
I feel this with reading.
Personally I’ve never understood the flex around how many books someone has read in a year. I mean if you are a fast reader/comprehend-er then you be you. Yet I feel that most people are just reading book after book so they can get to some arbitrary number by the end of an arbitrary time frame.
But, hey if setting a goal of reading x number of books in y amount of time makes you happy - fucking go for it.
