Cassettes can sound great if ya got Type III metal tapes. Lots of cheap tapes were Type I, which don’t sound nearly as good.
VHS tho nah, as nostalgic as I am for it, it’s just a bad option today lol

Lately I’ve been looking into Brian Eno’s solo works, alongside exploring experimental electronic albums. Trying to find new sounds and textures for inspiration!
I do themed years as per CGP Grey’s video about the idea. Last year was a year of Foundations, building myself up both for my mental health and for my music career, and this year I’m gonna start building a better life on that foundation.
… Or try to, at least. Forming a band with a buncha trans folks in Trump’s America is gonna be difficult, but what’s more punk than forming an almost exclusively trans rock band in the face of adversity?
I mostly use edibles, since I prefer those over smoking. Use 'em enough and your tolerance can get sky high. Combine that with poor self-regulation (common in us folks with ADHD, IIRC), and a traumatized past you want to hide from, and overuse became considerably easier for me.
Regular usage at high doses can result in withdrawal effects, since at that point your brain is used to the heightened dopamine levels. Without the constant party of THC in my system I get unbelievably angry and irritable, mostly towards myself, and threats of suicide become more frequent. Makes me wanna pop another brownie to make the self-hatred stop, cause these withdrawal effects can last a while for me.
I’m doing better with it lately, but I’m having to do frequent vibe checks on myself, and I’m working on an extended break right now. I dunno how universal an experience mine is, but boy howdy, I gotta be more careful.
I know sooo many people who discovered their love of jacked women from the Bulky Bars episode of Totally Spies, like holy shmoly.
Stalactites hang tight to the ceiling, stalagmites build up from the ground with all their might, but when they meet in the middle? You grab your phone and ya call 'em!
… It’s called a column.
You had my erection with “symphonic power folk metal.”
Lessee…
90s tracker MODs are a frequent go to for me (I’ve yet to find a bad song by Necros, there’s a good reason he was hired to compose for UT99)
I’ve always got Elephant 6 records on my rotation. In the Aeroplane is objectively Neutral Milk Hotel’s best works, but I feel On Avery Island is still worth seeking out! The final track is fascinating to me from an audio engineering perspective (not so much from a “this is enjoyable music” perspective xD)
Been obsessed with Shpongle too! Haven’t found a bad album yet.
I’ve also been listening through Steve Brenner’s works. His album Signals popped up on my YouTube feed, and on a whim I bought his discography on Bandcamp. Dude even sent a personalized email as thanks, and we had a nice chat about music production for a bit.
Weed.
It’s becoming a problem for me, actually.
I’d guess pride colors, depictions of Blahaj (that IKEA shark that’s popular among trans folks), stuff of the sorts. Stuff that right wingers get offended by.
Good tip, thanks.
That’s something I struggle to internalize, even when I’m with my best friends. I dunno how to be comfortable with silence, with a lull in the hangout sesh, it just eats me up and makes me feel like a bad friend.

I’m not even gonna lie, chief, if somebody shows me any kind of luxury fashion like that and boasts that it costs more money than I’ll ever see in my lifetime, I’m just gonna ask if it was worth the human suffering incurred in the making of these luxury goods.
Nothing published just yet! I saw the E6 documentary this summer and it lit a spark in me and my mates. My biggest influence is from the Olivias, and particularly I take more after Will Hart’s style (with my best mate being the Bill Doss of our group.) I’m actually gonna try doing some field recordings to try a Green Typewriters-esque musique concrete piece.
I’d have loved it if I could have been there with the Elephant 6 crew in Athens GA during the 90s. The music those folks produced is some of my favorite, and it’s totally the music I’m trying to make myself.
Yeah I’m not the best word smith on the best of days, let alone immediately after waking up with 3 hours of sleep lol
I’ve been having a lot of fun making experimental music on my laptop, and my friends recently helped me learn how to truly be proud of what I’m making.
Here’s a quick link to a WIP I’m having fun with! The ending bit is supposed to transition into something like Grass Cannons by the Olivia Tremor Control, but I haven’t gotten to that just yet. I’m very meticulous with my production process, still not quite satisfied with what I got here.
