If you mod a sub, you can still use third party apps for some reason. I have a tiny, practically private sub, and I can still use the Boost app for reddit with no problem.
you’re probably an idiot. I know I am.

Hey that’s not fair!
…we’ve also got Star Trek memes.
Yeah the 20th Imagine Dragons song the rest of the other basic chuds having been playing the past 2 hours is so preferable.
I only like jukeboxes when I have more money than anyone else because most people have shit taste in music
Good guy admin, good good instance 👍
I will say though, I do wish the modlog included which mod performed each action, as I think would be a good anti-abuse measure, and I am still concerned about a lack of recourse when a mod acts erroneously, such as in the case of removing entire a thread that at best was in the grey area of whether or not it matched a community’s intent. But that’s just my $0.02
Thank you for clarifying, both of those points radically help my understanding of the situation 👍
This is my concern. Or rather, my concern is that we will simply be replicating the reddit powermod problem with Lemmy powermods. I think we have the chance to learn from problems of the past, and I am worried we are not taking that opportunity
No, but at least in the case of the post which caused me to dive into the modlog in the first place, I do believe the judgement to be a bit subjective/arbitrary, as the post was called a “troll post” despite being about a major meme trend and was in the meme community. It was a meme about a contentious topic, and that is perhaps why it has gotten trend-level attention, but the post itself didn’t seem to be specifically bait. Which alone is fine, it’s okay to disagree with a mod decision and it doesn’t make that mod decision wrong or problematic, but that shaky reasoning plus the again, dramatic uptick in mod activity based on the entire previous history of this instance seemed worthy of inquiry to me.
Again, I’m really not try to start drama or trouble, and I don’t care about the specific post in question or any other post, I am just trying to understand before jumping to conclusions. But as somebody else pointed out, it seems like the vast majority of the activity is removing posts of a single problematic user, which is certainly valid reasoning.
Valid. I’ll admit I didn’t really read what was being removed, just the times and reasons listed after being kind of dumbfounded by the unprecedented rapid increase in modlog entries.
I’m not savvy enough to even know what that means. Is matrix a discord alternative or something?
I’m confused why you want to use anything other than old.reddit in the first place
Fr. Do people forget that they have autonomy in their experiences? You can still decline the call even if you aren’t actively engaged; nobody is automatically entitled to your free time.
And I bet horse carriages outsold the Ford Model-T this year too
Because the Rock is probably already half a billionaire; he doesn’t need any more fucking money.
If they want to work for free, fine, whatever. Otherwise, let other people enjoy some opportunities for once.
Yeah sorry I’m not gonna feel bad about criticizing Hollywood’s least charismatic nepo-baby whose presence is taking job opportunities away from actors who pursued the career the right way rather than merely having the right parents and connections.
I think it’s important to make the distinction that not wishing fame, fortune, and incredible opportunities for somebody is not the same as wishing ill on them. I don’t want her to suffer some poor fate, I don’t want her to get in any way harmed, I don’t her to be miserable. I just don’t want undeserving stiff acting being rewarded with fame and wealth when other vastly more deserving people could be taking those roles. I hope she has a wonderful life as a regional manager at In & Out, for example.
And yes, I feel this way about all nepo babies.
And frankly, actors in general; once you’ve made your mark on the industry and secured a comfortable wealth for you and your family, retire and allow those opportunities to go to others, but obviously that’s vastly less egregious than people being raised to pinnacle of culture just for coming out of the right vagina.
edit: typo
How many more of her films do we have to criticize before she agrees to quit the industry entirely?
Because I’m willing to put in the work.
Yes. To the best of my knowledge there is no restriction, and the only breakages I’ve noticed in the app in that internal links don’t work (links to a post on a sub just opens the sub) and I can’t view the “other discussions” page on a post.
