Living close to freeways - and even busy streets - is so deviously unhealthy. It’s one of those things that slowly kills you in ways you can’t comprehend.

Yeah, but they vary in how easy they are to find.
I will say the London Tube rarely ever smelled like piss and they don’t really do public restrooms in London. So it’s not just that. It must be something else…
hobovision@mander.xyztoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•is this what it sounds like!?English5·17 days agoWhat is the physics or math behind that? Light from the sun is essentially aligned by the time it reaches earth. If the mirror is perfectly reflective, a 10 m^2 mirror should light up a patch of Earth roughly 10 m^2 times the cosine of the angle of the mirror. So unless the angle is close to 90°, most of the losses would be from poor reflectivity.
I totally agree it’s a stupid idea. But maybe it’s even worse than I am thinking of?
hobovision@mander.xyzto Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•The Vegas Loop Is Getting Progressively More Stupid [22:04]English15·19 days agoWell the thing is if they made it a train then they’d have to follow pesky safety regulations like having room in the tunnel for someone to escape an accident and ventilation in case of a fire or other release of toxic fumes.
The point isn’t to make a functional transportation system, it’s a grift to get taxpayer dollars into Musk’s pockets by giving Tesla more places to put cars they can’t sell otherwise.
hobovision@mander.xyzto Technology@lemmy.world•Florida sues some of the biggest porn platforms( XVideos, XNXX, BangBros, GirlsGoneWild, GTFlix TV and more) accusing them of not complying with the state's age verification lawEnglish14·20 days agoUnrelated to the article itself, but god fucking damn is that website absolutely absurd. It looks like a shitty campaign website. The sad sad man changed the seal of the office and put an eagle (because books are lame I guess) and “free state of florida” at the bottom like that’s a real thing. Can’t believe this works on people.

The snippet above read like 3rd person present tense to me, which is still definitely unusual.

Thats kind of the definition of a bubble actually. When more and more people start trying to make money on a trend that doesn’t have that much real value in it. This happened with the dotcom bubble nearly the same. It wasn’t that the web/tech wasn’t valuable, it’s now the most valuable sector of the world economy, but at the time the bubble expanded more was being invested than it was worth because no one wanted to miss out and it was accessible enough almost anyone could try it out.
Are you really going to change the fuse in the receptacle when you plug a different cable in?
Low amp rated extension cords are dangerous unless they have a fuse in the cable. Best practice is to always use a cable that is rated higher than the circuit breakers.

Kind of like a musician’s last song. Was it the last one they published, recorded, or wrote? What about the last song they half wrote or maybe recorded some partial demos?

Makes it sound like an event that happened that scientists saw, rather than an ongoing process that’s been happening for millions(?) of years and will continue long past the end of humanity.

No joke that’s why I don’t like heated seats except on the very lowest setting (which is till sometimes too high). Feels like sitting in a puddle of warm piss.
I just want vented seats for those days where the seat material gets so hot, because to get any decent features in most new cars you HAVE to get the “leather” instead of fabric.

Or have someone rip the video for you and play it with VLC or use your Jellyfin server.
But then it won’t matter. The problem is that this looks like ass and didn’t need to be made with an AI image generator. It could easily be made with any free word processor and a picture of an embryo found anywhere.

The switching to tea example is a good one to criticize because on this chart coffee is quite high up there, but I consume only 15g of coffee a day, compared to probably close to a kg of meat, egg, and dairy. Eliminating coffee would not be a high climate impact decision.
Try Buldak Stew flavor, it’s pretty tasty and more like ramen soup than stir fried noodles.
