The issue is the hormones. Since it is “life-saving” care, they need it in the field, which isn’t conducive to being deployed.
If someone is trans, but doesn’t take hormones, let them stay in.
I also have no issue paying for hormones or surgery when they retire. I do not think trans benefits should be cut for people who have RETIRED from the military. Hell if someone wants a boob job, I have no issues when they retire.
