I’ve been keeping an eye on Men’s rights content for some time. I have 3 son’s and I have to help them navigate through a very toxic landscape.

The good messaging in MGTOW say’s that Men should focus on building themselves and their life. We should lift each other up and encourage each other to be wise, make good decisions, take ownership of our lives and be men.

The bad messaging says that all women are whores and should be used as such or ignored and made fun of.

There is a satisfaction in watching women hit the wall and realize that they have wasted the first part of their lives, but we shouldn’t dwell there, we should make sure that we don’t waste our lives.

I made this sub as a place holder, I will probably make others communities as well so I can seed the ground and keep things as free speech as possible.

This place will be different however. Users posting nihilist content will get a warning for the first offence and be banned for the second. There are forces out there actively pushing for people to lose hope. Not here.

The problem is, though, that searching for a short, direct quote from the original post here brings up zero results on Google or DuckDuckGo.

    I did it using:

“The good messaging in MGTOW say’s that Men should focus on building themselves and their life.”

    Nada.

We’re not really IN the internet.

We absolutely are, it just takes search engines a couple of days to index something:

I am really, truly happy to see that, @splinter@hilariouschaos.com - it gives me greater incentive to treat this as a place for serious posting and greater hope that the membership will eventually expand… But that isn’t even important so much…

If this is going to be used a lot going forward, it is a great place to archive content, and to allow sort of a snapshot of the important stuff that might go offline in a few months or years, and all that.

I have also thought before of trying to blog from an alt tech platform - it has the disadvantage of not having view counts or anything but perhaps that will be a feature eventually added to Lemmy.

          🙌

I agree, I think it’s a good place to share thoughts and ideas and have them archived and discoverable by others.

It might become a feature, I know kbin allows for something resembling blogs. There isn’t much difference between a community and a blog though, depending on how you look at it. What I mean is you could create a community for yourself, for example, you can even set it to where only you can post if that’s what you wanted.

https://hilariouschaos.com/c/yourcommunity would effectively become your blog, though the format would still look and feel Lemmy.

Right - I have considered that - but since there isn’t a view count or anything like that, and I think people have to even register to upvote, there’s a few things that keep me from being very eager to do it.

            But I am considering it.

As it stands, one of the reasons I am not doing it is simply that I do not really know if I have the time to commit to anything like that.

Yes fair points, though a word of caution that anonymous votes will just be trolled/spammed and spam bots love to post comments too, though I guess you can work around that if you manually approve each comment.

I hear you on the time bit, it really is a struggle.
