    Since they don’t show the portrait to the viewer…

    I’d love to ask the artist their intent. Did they mean to show him drenched in blood? Whose?

      The news online is like:

      Title: shocking picture you absolutely need to see

      Article: everything but the picture

      Also: red is the color of the monarchy. So maybe that.

        I could get that if it were just the background, like the official Obama portrait, but covering the uniform in red and leaving just his face and hands exposed seems to be making a statement.

      I also really like it… Probably a bit too avant garde to be appropriate as the first portrait of the King, but it really does strike me as nice.
