  • the traits that we today associate with health will become disadvantageous in the future.

Yeah I can think of a few, like aging. 10000 years from now kids will be saying, “wow, those poor unevolved savages lived such short lives and only really got to enjoy the first little bit of it before they started falling apart. They even had genetic engineering at the time! Imagine how many people would be alive today if they hadn’t been so scared to edit their genes to prevent aging.” Then their teacher would come over and explain that it wasn’t so easy at the time. There were still so many other problems they had to solve and related genes that need to be modified to avoid undesirable consequences, and let’s get back on topic: how many planets fall under the rule of the galactic empire including our own planet Urth?

  • I think you’re correct. However, when religion is proven over thousands of years to be a great tool to manipulate the masses, it attracts the worst of humanity who utilize it for personal gain at the expense of everyone else. I don’t care what god people choose to believe in, as long as that has 0 effect on me. But because Christianity is so pervasive in the US it affects many aspects of my daily life just by virtue of living in this country. It affects politics which affects medical, financial, and education sectors.

This is a huge problem and organized religion should really be getting more involved because some Christian politicians are giving the religion a bad reputation. Christianity has been declining slowly but steadily for many years now, and I welcome the day it becomes a minority because it apparently isn’t going to help solve these problems, so better to be rid of it.

  • Yeah I feel like the quality of dubs is really lacking for some shows. For example, I can’t watch any Netflix dubs anymore. They do an ok job but it seems like they use the same 5 voice actors for every show, and I end up recognizing them. It’s weird hearing a voice and matching it to a big Russian dude in one show and then a Korean guy in another. For that matter, they don’t do accents or hardly any emotion in the lines. It’s like having my dad read the dialog for me; it’ll never be as good as the original vice actors. There’s also the additional issue with live action dubs where the audio doesn’t match the lips. It just ruins the immersion and is really distracting.

Subtitles become less of an issue if you read faster. Don’t try to read it in time with the voices, read faster then spend the extra time watching the visuals.
