i really like the usa. it’s the best place on earth!!! yes yes!! but well. i’ve always wanted to visit and look around every place and every state. it’s the most beautiful country yes yes!!! but anyway. i’m from mexico. i have learned a lot of nice things about usa. history. rules. etc. but what are some other things that i need to know?? oh thank you so much!!
It’s not the best place on earth. I was born and live here. My girlfriend lives in Jilatopec, MX. She and I are planning to move to Chile.
Nací aquí en Florida. Soy mitad cubano.
ok thank you very much for the advice and well texas is very cheap!! that can be a good place of course and i also think that yes. there are rude and bad people and we must avoid them. but in america the people are so kind and good and helpful
Texas is cheap and racist. Good luck. It’s garbage. I lived there too.
but in america the people are so kind and good and helpful
The USA is quite diverse… People in certain states might be kind but it’s not universal.

Yes. People always think they can see the US in a week or two. We are 5x the size of Mexico. You could easily spend a week or more in Texas or California. A friend who travels a lot met her goal of seeing 50 states by age 50. Most people don’t get anywhere close to that.

Never refuse food or gifts. It’s not necessarily an offense if you refuse, but I know a lot of Americans that love to share. Me included. I love making southern food dishes for people that never eaten it. My my black-eyed peas and cornbread is something I think everyone should try
What makes you think it’s the best place on Earth?
There are countries with free health care and free higher education. Thus, the best place on Earth would be one of those places. USA is not one of those places.
“i’m from mexico”
Racists are going to treat you poorly through most of the Southern states.
Your best bet is to look at political maps like this:
Avoid the red states.
Even in the blue states, avoid the red parts of blue states:
On the other hand, you’re far more likely to encounter fellow Spanish language speakers in some of the southern red states like Texas and Florida. So I wouldn’t necessarily write off any given state so quickly like that.
Trust me, the color of a state is not going to indicate whether someone is racist or not. In fact, most states are going to be non-racist. Meanwhile, Vermont, which is my own state, is the bluest state in the US, yet people in Vermont are going to be the most likely state to bombard you with questions about where you’re from.

Nebraska and Maine are the two states that assign Electoral College votes proportionally, so even though Trump won the state, Biden got enough votes to peel off one Congressional district.
Same thing the other way in Maine.
Tell me you’ve never been to the south without telling me.
I dearly loved Memphis, but I’d never suggest someone from Mexico go there.
I believe this poster has a history of spamming under names similar to this current one, be aware.
excuse me?? why do you think so?
This place could use some protocol.
How long will you be here? Are you driving or flying? Come, visit everywhere, see it all! Most of the bad things you see on the news are isolated events. Do use some common sense, especially at night, and do a quick Internet search on higher crime areas of the cities you’re visiting. If you see an area with hotels that are much cheaper than other areas, there’s probably a reason. Many cities have lemmy communities or subs on r/ and can help you with specifics. People who tell you to avoid all red states are just spreading fear.
ok thank you very much. i am flying to visit my boyfriend/fiancé who lives there
The biggest do’s and dont’s will be related to driving. For example, do use your turn signals when making a turn while driving, and don’t randomly park in peoples’ driveways.
well we do that in mexico too so that’s understandable!! thank you!!
