In early March 2024, Discord revealed that “sponsored quests”, or ads would be added to the platform to help “support game developers” through the popular chat app.
Discord didn’t initially share a release date, or even how they’re going to implement ads into Discord’s overall design, other than mentioning that the sponsored quests would “tastefully” be integrated.
A report from The Wall Street Journal claims that Discord’s sponsored quests will be landing on the platform this week, and will be displayed at the bottom left of the app.
Great, the app is already a hot mess. It remind me of the early internet homepages people used to make.
God what is it with every social media app sucking hot fucking garbage despite being the most popular way to access it?. Especially if the app was bearable and progressively got worse.

If friends decide they will use something else then I can avoid Discord. Till then, guess I’ll start using it on the web for the adblock.
I’m pretty sure BetterDiscord or Vencord would very quickly add in a plugin to disable those ads.
I never heard of those, I shall look I to them, thank you for granting me awareness.
I read about this, and you will have the ability to turn the ad’s off in settings.
They are optional. For now.

I deleted my discord account about a year ago due to privacy concerns and I’ve been tempted to make a new one a few times but this definitely won’t push me closer.
Time to enter the Matrix haha… just maybe not that Matrix server… a different Matrix server.
Join different server to well distribute the network and left matrix.org for newcommers.
