Edit to clarify that by ‘snuggle’ i meant all pets, scritches, belly rube, squeezes, ass pats, questions about who’s the goodest, nicknaming, etc.

Listen, I understand why you’d feel that way as a modern human, but why are you glad we, as a potently social species, don’t engage in such simple bonding rituals?

I would if I had someone. But for now I just give my cat the big squeeze and smooch her head.

  • You don’t?

I don’t snuggle strange animals, or even my friend’s pets, unless they ask for it. I treat humans the same way. My cats get snuggles; so does my wife. I give my family about the same amount of hugs as I do their pets. My sister’s dog asks for head skritches; if my sister asked for them, I’d probably give them to her.

But, no: I don’t go around molesting other people’s pets unsolicited. Nor people.

this entire thread made me question my understanding of the word snuggle, so i looked it up. nope it agreed with me. snuggling is like cuddling.

maybe the definition has evolved recently?
snuggling has nothing to do scritches and positive words etc.
